Reconciling Creed

Following the reflections the congregation recited a Reconciling Creed adapted from “A Statement of Faith of the United Church of Canada”. This creed is as follows:

We are not alone, we live in God's world.

We believe in God:

who has created and is creating,

who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,

to reconcile and make us new,

who works in us and other by the Spirit.

We trust in God who sustains all creation.

God, the Holy Spirit transcends all human categories,

embraces all loving orientations,

gay, straight, lesbian and bisexual;

and celebrates all gender identities:

traditional, transgender, and nonconforming.

In love, God brings us together with others into perfect reconciliation by grace.

We are called to be the Church:

to celebrate God's presence,

to live in respect with creation,

to love and serve others,

to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us.

We are not alone.

Thanks be to God.
