Bob Coombe

Senior Pastor

Robert (Bob) Coombe was born in Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, in 1950, and raised in Levittown, Bucks County, where he graduated from Pennsbury High School. He has been a minister since 1977, completing his education and training from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. Rev. Coombe has served Methodist congregations throughout the Greater Philadelphia region, including Lindley United Methodist Church in Olney from 1978 to 1991, Union United Methodist Church in Havertown, Delaware County, PA. from 1991 to 2005, and at Yardley United Methodist Church from 2005 until 2015 when he joined FUMCOG. Rev. Coombe also serves on the Methodist Services Board of the Methodist Home for Children, and also as an Alternate Board member of the Philadelphia Unemployment Project, with whom he has been connected since the early 1980’s. Rev. Coombe represents the EPA Conference on the Ecumenical Working Group for Middle East Peace. He has been on the Board of the Kirkridge Retreat and Study Center, Bangor, PA since 2010.

Gabe Lopez

Associate Pastor

Noe Gabriel Lopez (Gabe) was born and raised in Philadelphia, the son of two Guatemalan immigrants. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology from Malone University and his Master of Divinity from Duke University. After graduating he became an Associate Pastor at a multicultural church in Henderson, NC. In addition, he has also worked as a middle school teacher. Gabe has ample experience working with Latin American immigrants and is very passionate about serving with marginalized communities. Among other accomplishments, Gabe has presented at the North Carolina Council of Churches on immigration and assimilation within first generation Latinos/as. His hobbies include traveling, playing soccer, watching sports and reading a good book on contextual theology. Gabe is recently married to Stacy Guinto-Salinas. They are very excited about beginning this journey of ministry at FUMCOG.

Forrest Glass

Director of Music Ministry

Forrest Glass hails from Richmond, Virginia and is a graduate of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance, and a Master of Music degrees in Choral Conducting and Voice Performance from Temple University. Forrest served as FUMCOG’s baritone soloist and section leader until the fall of 2018, when he was appointed Music Director. 

 

Forrest is an avid believer in the uniquely unifying power of music and its potential to create compassion, understanding, and solidarity among people from incredibly diverse and disparate backgrounds. His goal as a conductor is to bring classical music off of its pedestal and into less fortunate, but deserving communities. He aims to influence and inspire young people of color in the same way that he was when he was younger.

Jodi Bohr

Organist

Jodi Acker Bohr grew up in Stroudsburg, PA and is a graduate of Westminster Choir College. She has a Bachelor of Music degree in Church Music and Music Education, where she studied organ with Donald McDonald and George Markey. She is the Lower School Music Coordinator at Germantown Academy where she teaches music to children in grades 3 through 5 and to those ages 1-4 in the childcare center. She served as the Director of Music and Organist at Lower Providence Presbyterian Church from August 2011 until coming to FUMCOG in August 2019. Her accompanying career began in elementary school: as a college student she was a staff accompanist for the Fred Waring Music Workshops and The Westminster Singers, and she has been the accompanist for the Philadelphia Girls Choir since the choir’s inception in 2012. 

As a church musician it is Jodi’s desire to enrich the worship services with music that complements the spoken message. As a leader in worship it is her goal to inspire people from diverse backgrounds to worship God together through music of all styles, and to support other musicians as they share their gifts and talents in praise to God.

Jeanna Murat

Office Administrator and Director of Youth Ministries

Jeanna Murat, born and raised in Boston, now resides in Northeast Philadelphia.  Previously Jeanna served first-generation and low-income youth in college access programs in Boston, New York and Philadelphia.  As a first-generation Haitian-American her life’s work focuses on empowering youth to have a voice and to be informed of the difference they can make now in their lives and within the lives of others around them.

 

She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in International Peace & Conflict Resolution at Arcadia University.  Her vision, passion, and commitment is to partake in the development of a restored Haiti by uplifting the youth in Haiti.  When she has some spare time, you can find her spending time with family or friends, reading, sightseeing, or traveling the world.

Bruce McNeel

Director of Publications

Bruce McNeel produces the weekly worship bulletin, the FUMCOG newsletter Tidings and posters and flyers for all  church events. He shares bulletin cover production with Sandy Clay Bauer.

 

Bruce is a native Philadelphian who spent childhood summers on farm in Chester County. He studied Graphic Design at Philadelphia College of Art (now Univ. of the Arts) and at the School of Visual Arts in NYC where he studied under Milton Glaser.

 

Bruce also plays guitar and banjo and brings his music into the worship experience.
