Pastor Alisa has helped organize a national interfaith gathering featuring inspiring speakers, music, history, and powerful personal stories that challenge us to consider how we can better live up to our nation’s ideals.

Hear from:
Charlene Walker, who works closely with immigrants, detainees at Delaney Hall, and their families in New Jersey.
Lunise Cerin, Haitian writer, filmmaker, and musician who, with her sister Talie, shares Haitian culture through storytelling and the arts.
Anh Vongbandith, wife of Anou, who was detained at Moshannon.
Rev. Cavaness of Mother Bethel AME Church.
Senator Art Haywood, who will offer a call to action.
Faith leaders from many traditions, along with stories of the immigrants connected to Christ Church who helped shape our nation’s early vision of liberty.

At 11:00 a.m., we will gather for a Ring the Bell Vigil to honor immigrants who have died in ICE custody. Following the vigil, those who wish are invited to participate in a peaceful walk to the ICE Field Office at 114 N. 8th Street. Please join us for this powerful and peaceful gathering as we reflect on our history, honor those impacted today, and recommit ourselves to the promise of Liberty for All.

Today we celebrate all the people who show up with the love, wisdom, patience, and care of a father, of dads, stepdads, grandfathers, foster and adoptive fathers, uncles, mentors, chosen family, and every father figure who helps others grow.

We also hold space for those who are grieving, longing, or navigating complicated relationships today. Wherever you find yourself, you are seen and loved.

Today we celebrate Juneteenth! Juneteenth is a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the resilience, resistance, and contributions of Black Americans.

At our church, we believe faith calls us beyond reflection and into action. Following the teachings of Jesus, we are committed to confronting injustice, dismantling systems of oppression, and working toward a world where freedom, equity, and dignity are realities for all people.

Juneteenth is both a celebration and a reminder: liberation is sacred work, and the pursuit of justice is an essential part of our faith.
