WHAT'S ASH WEDNESDAY?
What's that you ask? It's the first day of our 40 day preparation for Easter. A day we remember our need for God and our opportunity to walk with Jesus. It's a contemplative and powerful time and we hope you can join us for one of these two Ash Wednesday services on Wednesday, March 5.
ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICES:
MARCH 5TH, 2025
8 AM:
Outdoor Service at FUMCOG on High Street:
In-person only, short and sweet time of worship to begin the day
7 PM:
Mission Link Service with Neighboring Churches at Lighthouse UMC:
In-person at FUMCOG and online via YouTube Livestream
FUMCOG is blessed to be connected with a local “MISSION LINK.” The Link includes 8 other United Methodist Churches in the area with diverse backgrounds and practices. Each Wednesday, we rotate worship spaces and one congregation hosts the whole Link. Please plan to join at at least one of the worships that can be found here.
SUNDAY SERIES OVERVIEW:

and Christian life but also teach us the rhythms and practice of sacred resistance?
Join us this Lent as each Sunday we dive into the depth, power, truth and witness of a different Spiritual alongside the scripture. Together, we’ll learn the cadence of Christ’s liberating love that goes through the cross to true freedom.

HOLY WEEK 2025:
Walk with Christ this Holy Week as we rediscover the unconquerable love that changed the world.
PALM/PASSION SUNDAY – March 24, 11 AM
Experience a powerful service featuring special musical guests who will guide us through the joy of Palm Sunday and the sorrow of Passion Week with song and reflection.
MAUNDY THURSDAY – March 28, 7 PM
Join us at Bickley’s United Methodist Church for a Spirit-filled worship service alongside seven other congregations.
GOOD FRIDAY – March 29
Two opportunities for worship:
12 Noon at Grace UMC – A “Seven Last Words” service.
7 PM at FUMCOG – A somber, reflective Tenebrae service, where we take in Jesus’ final acts of love through scripture, song, light, and darkness.
EASTER SUNDAY – March 31
Sunrise Hike in the Wissahickon – More details to come.
11 AM – Celebrate the joy of Easter with a Holy and joy-filled worship service!
