About Us

Children and Family Ministries

FUMCOG exists to love God and to love all people. We believe in embracing the mystery and doubt of faith through wrestling with the questions that inevitably arise, in a safe environment. Our community strives to live our lives with our hearts pointed outward to love and serve others.

FLEXIBLE and ON THE GO

FUMCOG Church School operates September through May. In order to offer engaging and diverse spiritual experiences, our program operates on a flexible schedule.

A Learning Community

Teachers, mentors, children, and youth ask and explore faith questions together. Though Jesus is our primary clue as we explore spirituality, FUMCOG uses sacred texts and contemporary writings to seek truths and the divine love that ultimately converges into the universal love that is God. Programs are enriched by the gifts of our community: its history, art, music, social activism, drama, and more! In this light of a peaceful, loving community, we strive to live out the teachings of Jesus in our everyday lives.

Themes of Exploration

As we turn to wonder, our programs will explore three themes each year. This allows us to explore with more depth and draw from the diverse experiences and expertise of our church family and the surrounding community. We intentionally plan for a unique mash up of:

  • traditional church school classes

  • service projects

  • guest speakers

  • creative arts

  • field trips

Hearts Pointed Outward

Hands and Feet

Servant-hearted and justice oriented, the FUMCOG community commits to serving our community, our city, our nation, and our world.  Throughout the year, we provide various opportunities for families to participate in outreach and mission projects.

In Mission

Safe Sanctuary
